A Indian family function or get together usually requires us to be
dressed in our traditional attires. Something most of us have almost stopped
wearing these days. We either don’t find the time or the right occasion to
adorn ethnic attire. A family get together hence is a perfect time to get your
ethnics out and sport a more traditional look.
There is so much you can do with your ethnic look these days. The
different kinds of cuts of the kurtas and blouses can add a touch of fusion to
your outfit. Today, I am sticking to a basic yet stylish ethnic attire that is
apt for a simple family get together.
A cotton kurta is great for summers and a comfortable option during
summers. You could pair it up with either a cigarette pant or plazzo depending
on the length of the kurta you chose to wear. Both these options are in. If
you’ve got a short height I’d recommend a medium length kurti with cigarette
pants and if you’re tall, you could opt for a longer kurti with plazzos. Say no
to leggings as they are too cliché!
It’s always better if your kurti and bottom are of the same material.
Pairing your outfit with a contrasting colour dupatta adds variation to your
outfit. Ensure the dupatta colour is in harmony with the rest of your outfit.
Let it be the colours or print, a contrast is good, but not something that is
completely a mis-match.
If your get together is just a few people you could opt to go for
minimum accessories and a nude make up look. Adding statement earrings that are
again in contrast to your outfit (preferably matching a color from dupatta) is a great
option.
