Food Review : Thai cuisine at Shiro

Its Wednesday evening and we are craving for Pan Asian food.

One of our favorite hangout for Pan Asian cuisine is

SHIRO
and luckily they have recently introduced new Thai Menu, just is time for us to try

Shiro plan to take you on culinary journey of Thailand featuring some of the region's most distinctive flavours.

Menu is segmented as per 6 major ingredients which define Thai cuisine -

Bird's Eye Chilli
Kaffir Lime
Lemongrass
Thai Basil
Tamarind
Coconut

Let us take you through Foodography journey of evening filled with Ingredients and Dishes of Thailand

Bird's Eye Chilli

known as Thai Chilli, this small chilli packs a mighty punch. It measures around 100,000-250,000 Scoville units which is enough to put your A$$ in Fire :)

Lobster with Thai Chilli : Highly Recommended
Lobster Stir fried with bird's eye chilli, basil, oyester sauce and topped with crispy onions and garlic, served in a shell, one of the best lobsters we have had recently. A must try.


Steamed Chilean Seabass : Highly Recommended


Chilean Seabass steamed with lemongrass, coriander, Bird's eye chilli and lemon, again a good try if you love steamed and spicy food.


Red Snapper with Spicy Sambal

Red Snapper marinated with in house fiery sambal, wrapped and grilled in banana leaf



Kaffir Lime

Native to Asia, Kaffir lime is a small citrus fruit resembling an unripe lime. However, it is the leaves that are used in cooking as they possess a unique lime flavour and aroma.

Satay : Highly Recommended

Marinated with Kaffir lime, yellow curry paste, lemongrass and coconut milk, it was smooth and had distinctive flavours, truely a must try from this section


Thai spring roll

Assorted veggies, glass noodles, Kaffir lime, served with iceberg lettuce and herbs



Lemongrass

Well-known and widely used herb, Lemongrass is famous for it's citric taste, aroma as well as medicinal properties. It has singular yet subtle flavour with an amazing aroma. 

Prawn on Sugarcane Skewers : Highly Recommended

Minced prawns flavoured with Lemongrass, chilli and coriander, grilled on a sugarcane skewer, served with sweet chilli dip, awesome I must say and sugarcane just lifted the whole taste of dish. 


Lemongrass Chicken

chicken marinated in lemongrass, coriander and oyster sauce, baked and drizzled with tamarind sauce.



Thai Basil

Thai basil is part on mint family with distinguishing flavours of licorice, anise and clove.Herb is very popular in south east asian cuisines.

Spicy basil Chicken in Crispy Cups

Minced chicken tossed with Thai Basil, chilli and oyster sauce, served in crispy cups



Tamarind

Tamarind is a popular fruit used in cuisines all over the world. Fruit pulp is used in drinks, snacks and sorbets. 

Steamed Fish with Tamarind Sauce : Highly Recommended
Vietnamese Basa marinated with lemongrass, kaffir lime and galangal, steamed and drizzled with Tamarind sauce



Coconut

Coconuts have an extensive range of use in Thai cuisine, almost every part of fruit is used, from tree to husk to flesh. Coconut Milk is one of the main ingredient to be used in many Thai dishes.

Southern Thai Curry
Coconut based curry flavored with chilli, garlic and lemongrass, Good change to regular Thai Green Curry, a must try.



Rice and Noodles

Spicy Thai Noodles
Flat rice noodles tossed with spicy Thai Sauce
