Taiwan, one of Asias must-see destinations !

Hi Everyone,

As an Aquarian soul, wandering comes naturally to me !!

Coming from a family placed all over the globe, there is no reason for me to stay put in one place. However, with the birth of 'Stylish By Nature' came the responsibility and teething issues. Now, since SBN turned 5 and is quite able to take care of itself, that I decided to return to traveling and making some memories on the way.

Year 2016 has been kind so far and I am traveling quite a lot of places.
Though its tiring, but whose complaining when you happen to explore new places and get to meet interesting people !!

Voilla, in the frame of things to look forward to, I received an invitation to explore Taiwan by Taiwan Tourism.

Lets plan Trip to Taiwan: Asia's Best Kept Secret

Visa

Applying for eVisa is simple and straightforward
Just go to Official Website of Taiwan Government HERE
Fill the form, do the payment and Visitor Visa will be available for you in 1-2 working days.

Flights

Book Advance and you will be able to crack some good deals.
There are many options available compare prices and choose the best deal, I usually try multiple websites before cracking the right deal for me.
For this itinerary we have picked Cathy Pacific : Bangalore - Hongkong -Kaohsiung, Taiwan (KHH)
Return from Taipei - Hongkong - Bangalore

There are other airports as well, and you can plan your travel looking at the nearest Tourist places you want to explore
We are planning to cover major part of Taiwan then flying in to Kaohsiung and flying out of Taipei and will be covering major landmarks.

Travel Insurance

This is one thing you have to keep handy, if you want to travel without hassles.
Choose wisely, these days Travel Insurance covers Medical, Dental, Passport, Baggage, Accident, Money and hell lot of stuff.
Definitely a must have before you leave your home country.

Currency

New Taiwan Dollar is the official currency of Taiwan (NTD)
1 NTD = 2 INR (approx)
It is advisable to carry USD (in any amount or denominations they deem fit), I am also carrying International Multi-currency card for easy handling
These can be changed at number of Forex centers and banks in Taiwan.

Hotels

With early booking many deals are available for Taiwan, I also saw some packages which included Flight and Hotels.
I will be sharing my Itinenary of Hotels soon, so plan accordingly.

Other necessary things to be aware of :

Will my Laptop/Mobile Chargers work ??

Haha, one major question
Electricity format of Taiwan is 110V/60Hz, Check the rating on your adaptors before plugging it in (else it will be a cooked meat), But mostly all good quality chargers will work
Though you might need Power adaptor for PIN conversion, if you are using European plug supported adaptors (like we do in India). Taiwan follows US plug format.

What is the Time Difference from India??

Taiwan is two and a half hours ahead of India, so set your clocks right.
Taiwan Time = GMT +8

Hows the Weather ??

Taiwan welcomes its visitors with a pleasant season all year round. Still Plan ahead and check weather, to pack appropriate clothes
During the trip, the average temperature is expected to be between 27 – 34 Degrees.

How can I dial out to different number in Taiwan ??

886 + area code + number you wish to dial.

How to Get Sim card in Taiwan ??

To buy a SIM in Taiwan, you need TWO forms of photo identification – so make sure you carry one APART from your passport if you wish to purchase one during the duration of your visit.
SIM cards will generally cost around 500 NTD.

Dont want to use my Data roaming, can I get some internet connectivity pack ?

Came across this company i-wifii which provides internet routers and have easy pickup and drop options available on Airport and 7eleven stores. It can provide you with unlimited access during your stay in Taiwan.
Apart from then Taiwan currently has about 4,400 hotspots in major tourist spots, transportation hubs, cultural establishments and government offices all over the island country.
To access free Wi-Fi, you have to create an iTaiwan account at a Taiwan Tourism Bureau counter/center
and show your passport as ID. You can login using this account on your digital devices.
In addition, iTaiwan has established roaming agreements with four local governments so that tourists
also have access in Taipei City, New Taipei, Taichung and Tainan.
