Early this Spring/Summer 2012 designer collections set me lusting for the pleated skirts. Be it maxi or mini, I knew, a sharp pleated skirt will be a big trend this season. While my eyes were spying each and every store, I found my beauty on OASAP.com. Stylish Bee - Reasons you love your job.
Kate - I love the creating process, matching and picking the colors of the gems for a new style or a new design. Sometime I have a vision before I sit down to work. I love how the idea comes together at the end. The work process is effortless and a pure delight. I’m very critical towards my work. So I make sure to please myself first.

Stylish Bee - Describe an average day at the office for you.
Kate - I work from home.  I work whenever I have a minute to myself. It usually happens in the evenings. Beading takes a long time. I usually start in the evening and finish the project the next day. I like to peek into my studio every time I past it by to glans at the beads and gems I displayed everywhere. It keeps my creativity brewing and ideas flowing!

Stylish Bee - Does your personal style reflect on how you find new designs? Or are there other factors you look at when "hunting" for a new design?
Kate - All my creations reflect on who I am.  They have part of my soul imbedded in them. But when it comes to the style, I like to experiment and use different materials. I try to be open minded about what people might like, from classic to utilitarian. Feathers, chains, leather, silver and copper beads are often incorporated in my designs.   

Stylish Bee - Any predictions for next season trends?
Kate - I have couple of vintages pieces I’d like to recreate with a modern twist. I also want to start a new line of jewellery using resin stone and enamel.

Stylish Bee - Where do you drive your inspiration from and how you interpret it in your lovely designs?
Kate - I find the inspiration everywhere. Mother Nature is the best artist and a teacher. I use flowers and plants for finding unique colour combinations.  Sea shells that I have collected over the years have beautiful prints and patterns. Sometimes clients determine what they like to see in the finished product. I try my best to turn their vision into an art.

Stylish Bee - What interests you about fashion?
Kate - For me fashion is a form of art. Great designs by famous designers are timeless. I like manifesting my creativity through fashion whether it’s making jewellery or apparel. This is the form of art I can relate to that inspires me to do the best I can in my unique creations.

Stylish Bee - What would be one special thing about a design that would catch your attention?
Kate - It has to have right colour combinations, interesting patterns and print.  Sometimes simplicity and minimalism is the answer. Most importantly it should fit my body type.

Stylish Bee - Do you think social, economic and technical factors have affected fashion over the years? How?
Kate - All of the above affects the fashion as a business. I think global economy made fashion more diverse and accessible. Society imposes beliefs, attitudes, and lifestyles that are adopted by the masses. These attitudes change frequently as people make an effort to accommodate the demands placed on them by the world around them. As they do, demand for certain styles of clothing, technological devices and other products/services increase while demand for other alternatives fades away. So the fashion business like any other business must plan accordingly. Lots of companies went green by using organic materials some considered fare trade services. Also, as the technology continues to improve the best companies stay on top of technological changes and use them to get more work done in a shorter period of time. Blogging, social networking can help businesses stay ahead of the game. So, all of us marketers, must be aware of the changes that may affect our businesses and industries.

Stylish Bee - How do you intend women to feel when wearing your labelled accessories?
Kate - “Georgian beauty” line is the collection of one of a kind necklaces and accessories. I would like women to feel special, stylish and confident while wearing my necklaces, which is the guarantee for looking chic.
